Lost 55pounds - how's food?
Hi all,
I would love to know how I'm doing with food is. I've lost almost 55pounds since last July and I'm far more into nutrition now and want to ensure that I'm eating the best both for weight loss and the long term.
So an example of the typical food I eat mid-week.
Breakfast:
Either
2 scrabled egg whites on 2 slices of thin slice whole meal bread
or
Porriage
Mid-morning snack
Banana
Lunch:
Wholemeal Pitta, 7 cherry tomatoes, Half a carrot, Cucumber, Tablespoon of humous
Or
Prawn sandwich
Mid-afternoon snack
Either
A packet of less than 100 calories crisps (I'm trying to break this habit!)
or
2 clementines
Dinner:
Lots of veg and either fish of some kind (e.g.cod, trout, prawns etc) and possibly some couscous.
Evening snack
2 weight watchers biscuits (again, trying to break this habit!).
I drink about 2 - 3 litres of water a day.
Exercise wise: I try to do cardio 3 times a week (body jam, the gym or an exercise dvd) and I've recently started using dumbbells and kettlebells for strength training.
Is this okay? Thanks.

Thank you
Yes, I agree its pretty cool
but just wanted to get some feedback on whether I'm eating healthy etc. I always feel like it's not great!

Brent tuna with oatmeal ?..YUCK dude
Aside from that yes the diet is sorely lacking protein, not sure how much protein is in a tbsp of humus or prawns though. Your goal is to lose weight still ? Are you working out also ? I'm not seeing any fats either, healthy ones are necessary

Re: Lost 55pounds - how's food?
The hypothesis.
Weight Watchers biscuits, for people watching their weight.
Normal biscuits, for people who couldn't care less.
Discuss
Seriously though, as Brent says, 100 calorie anything is false prophecy, especially when it's just crammed full of the nutrition you'd get from a 300 calorie meal. Vitamins and minerals are important, but they aren't very filling, so don't be too surpirsed if within 90 minutes of eating some 90-100 calorie thing, you feel the need to chew your fingers.

Re: Lost 55pounds - how's food?
What keeps them alive for the 40 years, the preservatives ?
Re: Lost 55pounds - how's food?
Luck and other things like some sort of Amino Acid, Vitamin, Mineral and water intake from other things would kepe lovers of Krispy Kreme alive for longer. I assume people who eat Krispy Kreme don't make it a sole source of nutrition. That would be akin to clinical insanity I daresay.
Eventually however you'd get people eating too much Krispy Kreme food, potentially leading to severe arterial blockages and a possible fatal Heart attack. Assuming the blockages didn't contribute to what could be called Coronary Anoxia, (Oxygen Starvation to the Heart).
Krispy Kreme are but one bad apple in the food-death link, but enevitably they will play their part

Check out post on multi-vits, you may not have been using one that's as holier than thou as you may think
.
By the way, amazing weight loss totals and not too rapid either
. An acceptable rate for someone with your previous weight. The average of 5lbs, should hopefully taper off a bit, so you don't end up becoming a rapid loser, with loose skin lefotver and one or two issues.
As for you wishing to enter strongman competitions, I'm sure you'll be able to manage that without too many issues
