I read elsewhere you were thinking of using an elliptical, to remove weight off the Legs during Cardio.

You might be better on a recumbent exercise Bike.

A: because it's got Lumbar support, which normal saddle based ones don't.

B: It should allow the upper body weight to be channelled away from the Legs. Even on an elliptical the Legs willl weightbear upper body weight, because you're vertical.

Might be a thought.

Once you find your seating position that's the ideal distance from the metal shaft, you'll be good to go.

I am not so worried about the weight as I am about the impact on legs. problem now is how to strength train properly. work hours are a factor in workout schedule. Before I started running outdoors I did strength training on Thursdays and Mondays with just enough cardio to get the heart pumping while working on strength. On Sundays and Tuesdays I did all cardio on the treadmill. Now, that I started the 5k training Thursday is a running day as is Sunday and Tuesday, but instead of the treadmill I am running outdoors. I am down now to one strength training day on Monday, but I still need some way to let legs recover from Sundays run. Here, I think, is a spot where inexperience is hurting me.

I used to think the same thing...but when I got there I realized that the 30 to 39 women's age groups are by far the most competitive and hardest to beat. I set all PR's in mid thirties. :D

Did group run yesterday evening. I moved from the beginners group to the regular 5K group. We ran just under 2 miles, but for me the pace was brutal. Whenever we where asked if the pace was to fast for anyone I let the testosterone do talking and would say keep going. legs were so spent I could barely walk once I got home. Just walking to the bathroom seemed like an expedition. legs are still tired today, but I have 2 days now to rest them before Sunday run. Its a nice day and I don't have to work today. I am going to go practice the guitar for about an hour then get in the car, open the sunroof and just take a long ride.

Aww..man...that sounds like a perfect afternoon. Have fun!
Good luck on your Sunday run! :D
I was given an acoustic guitar as a gift about 15 years ago, it is a beautiful mahogany color - and it stays so pretty sitting for years in the guitar case it came with! I tried to learn how to play when I first got it, then as time went on, didn't stick with it. Several times I thought about selling it, or giving it to someone who could actually use it, but I am still holding on to the hope of learning to play it someday. Have you played guitar long? don't tell me....you were in a "hair band" in the eighties?!!! (don't get me wrong, I loved and was seriously into a few hair bands in the eighties  ) - don't tell Bossman...he'd probably ban me from the site!!!

If you're going to publicly admit to such things then on your head be it.

Not too fussed about hair bands, except Guns 'N' Roses, (Axel comes across if if he's up himself a bit and Slash is a good guitarist, that got too much hype and an elevated status from "that" riff), plsy Bon Jovi, (Jon Bon Jovi comes across as a bit like Axel and his move to acting was ill advised).

At least you didn't confess to liking Bread and that wishy-washy guitar playing that David Gates did, or I might have had to seriously review your position within the community :p :p.

Err Kris, I think we should ban Fitoverforty.

Why Bossman?

Because she admitted to liking Bread LP's, plus I think she's been secretly plotting to bring us down for ages. I was wondering when we get a few Indian and Pakistani spam posts, who actually pays the Indians and Pakistanis their illicit monies .

Well, I did play in a few bar bands in the 70s and early 80s and played a lot of music I didn't like for money. I'm not sure what that makes me.

Rest day today. I think legs will be ready for a good run tomorrow. I had someone take a picture of me at work today. But, everytime I rotate the picture upright in paint or gimp it squeezes me down into a fireplug.

You're doing GREAT Edgar ! I keep before pic on frig right next to after (as of Nov 2009, 1 year from the first) it really keeps me motivated AND everyone who comes in house can see it - LOL. You look so different from one pic to the other - definitely do look younger now. I look forward to following your journey :)
