Help with Weight Loss journey!!!!!
Help!!!!!!!!
I am 31 and weight 182, and I am 5'5 tall. I want to be able to fit into a nice size 8 with out anything hanging over the edges. i am currently in a size 14. I recently had a baby. 8 months ago, and I breastfed for 5 months...... I currently want to weigh 130 puonds.
Would this be a reasonable weight for me?
I have been down this road once or twice before but for what ever reason I am really having a hard time taking the weight off this go around... I cant seem to find will power or motivation to stick with anything.
I am thinking goal weight will be 130. so I have 52 pounds to lose. It is really going to be hard. When I get on the treadmill after about a mile I am ready to get off of it.
Any advice would be greatly appriciated.

Re: Help with Weight Loss journey!!!!!
Like Brent, I have no idea if you should weigh 130 lbs. I do agree with his advice in setting short term goals to work towards. The goal of 130 is fine however instead of focusing on that right now focus on immediate goals. You could even make some lifestyle goals instead of focusing on numbers. For instance instead of just focusing on the weight set a goal of getting all the unhealthy food out of your house and stocking up on clean foods like clean foods like lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, veggies, and healthy fats. Also this week set a goal to workout atleast 5 days... 3 days of weights and 2 days of cardio. If the treadmill (which I call the dreadmill) is not working for you take a walk outside... or a hike, or a bike ride, or go swimming, or go run some stairs, or get a jump rope... get creative. If you prefer the treadmill break your workout up into sections... do 2 minutes then pick up the pace, 2 minutes then slow down, 2 minutes then add incline, 2 minutes then decline, 2 minutes then pick the pace up a little more. Focus on just 2 minutes at a time instead of X minutes or X miles.Worth78 wrote:Help!!!!!!!!

What does your diet currently look like?
Re: Help with Weight Loss journey!!!!!
I guess was i was trying to ask about the 130 is if it is around about what i should weigh for height. i dont want to looke bad... i jsut want to be thinner... i have weighed 150 before and was happy at that weight.. honestly i would be estatic to be at 150 again... i just feel awful about myself right now and every time i try to get back on the wagon im there for like a day and then i fall right back off again... urg... very frustrating. i weigh more now than i did when i delivered last little one which really makes this even more frustrating.
As far as diet goes. that is really hard for me. this morning i had a bowl of cereal with 2% milk... i am drinking nothing but water with added flavor mixes... for lunch i am going to have a wrap with grilled chicken breast and low fat cheese made with 2% milk... for dinner probably the same thing. when i snack i generally grab an apple, grapes, pretzels, boiled egg, pop corn... ect.... the problem with diets is i eat NO vegitables... Potatoes, cooked carrots, light red kidney beans, pork n beans. (all starches...) no green veggies nothing...

Re: Help with Weight Loss journey!!!!!
Hmmm... Well if you were happy with 150 why don't you shoot for that weight. Once you get there you can always re-evaluate.
I believe 130 is a pretty average weight for somebody who is your height.
For meals you need protein with EVERY meal. Also don't forget healthy fats. What about something like this for your diet:
Meal 1: 1/2 c oats, 2 whole eggs scrambled, 8oz 1% milk
Meal 2: 1 piece fruit, 11 almonds, 3-4 oz lean protein
Meal 3: grilled chicken breast, whole grain tortilla, side salad
Meal 4: veggies, 11 almonds, 3-4 oz lean protein
Meal 5: large salad, grilled chicken or fish, 1 cup lentils or black beans (you can throw the protein and the beans on the salad if you like)
Meal 6: 1/2-1 c cottage cheese or greek yogurt, 1 tbsn natty nut butter, stevia (optional for taste)
Do you have access to weights?
As far as falling off the wagon... I recommend stripping down to your undies or a swim suit (the most revealing one you've got) and take a picture. Heck, take a few pictures from the front, back, and side. Print these pictures out and post them around your house. Put them on the fridge, on your treadmill, in your food journal (yes you need to keep a food journal!), by your computer, on your night stand... but them ALL OVER so that you are FORCED to look at them atleast 10+ times per day. This will continually help you remember your goals and should keep you pretty darn focused.
Honestly it all comes down to how badly you want to meet your goals. If you want it bad enough you WILL STICK WITH IT. It is difficult to make changes at first but I promise you it gets easier with time. I can also promise you that there is NO food that tastes as good as being fit and healthy feels. I can also tell you that while the treadmill can be miserable and there are days where you won't want to lift those weights... every step on that treadmill and every weight you lift will bring you closer to meeting your goals and it will ALL be worth it in the end. If you want it bad enough you will find a way to meet your goals.

Re: Help with Weight Loss journey!!!!!
I am actually trying for short goals. 10pounds each... i reward myself each time i hit mark. the 1st 10pound mark will be a bellybutton peircing... when i hit 174. Seems like so far away but very reachable...
i have not seen the 130's since 1st child... lol
I can do the protien.... as for the veggies, salad, yogurt, and such. I really cant do this. i know what your thinking. i should be able to suffer thru anything to get to goal weight. but eating these items really make me sick. What are healthy fats...
i do have access to weights... i generally just do the treadmill and walk the park... i wanted to take off some of the weight and then use the weights to tone up after i have taken off majority of the weight....

So every veggie makes you sick? Green beans, brocolli, cauliflower, lettuce, spinach, asparagus, peppers, cucumbers, celery, zucchini (some of these are technically "fruits" but i'm listing them as veggies to keep it simple).. all of those make you sick?Worth78 wrote:I am actually trying for short goals. 10pounds each... i reward myself each time i hit mark. the 1st 10pound mark will be a bellybutton peircing... when i hit 174. Add the weights now. Weights build muscle, muscle increases your metabolism helping to burn more calories, the more calories you burn the more fat you should lose. Definitely want to start with the weights as soon as possible as it will make this fat loss stuff soooo much easier.

Oh and healthy fats... nuts, natural nut butter, avacado, flax, canola oil, olive oil, eggs (some are better than others), fatty fish (salmon)...

Re: Help with Weight Loss journey!!!!!
Really? I would STARVE if I didn't eat veggies. I love them all equally. In fact, I don't think there are any that I don't like.amatlack wrote:I hate veggies. And I was a vegetarian for a very long time.
Recently, I've gotten to dipping raw carrots in hummus, raw broccoli in Italian dressing (the strong tart of the dressing really kills the broccoli flavor)...steamed green beans are great, and you can just sprinkle a tiny amount of something like goat cheese for some flavor. Salads are awesome because a little dressing masks some of the flavor (but be careful not to use too much dressing...cals there really add up!).
You can do it, I promise.
I agree... You can do it!

Ohhh I see so you still like "veggie-ish" foods like peppers and cucumbers... just not actual veggies such as brocolli and cauliflower. I love them all equally. Oh and I do love me some salads!!!amatlack wrote:Just about everything I like is a fruit...peppers I like, tomatoes and cucumbers I like most of the time, avocado doesn't count, mushrooms are a fungus. I used to be really into zucchini and yellow squash, but I ate them so much that they now make me kind of nauseated to eat. Other than that...mostly salads.cassiegose wrote: Really? I blame it on mom. She has no sense of smell (literally). She burned/overcooked veggies. I'm scarred for life.
Darn parents are really good at finding ways to scare their kids for life.

Good for you - I wouldn't recommend listening to someone who tells you to take diet pills, they are not worth it and not safe in the long run.Worth78 wrote:i have tired diet pills in the past and i really want to do it natural... as it is more likely to stay off. i need to make lifestyle changes not just lose weight....

Please disregard the diet pill guy. He was a spammer. I took care of him.
