Boss Man wrote:The only thing I can see is, the possibility that the Cardio may hinder muscle growth, or even cut size, but I'm certain the trainer would do it in a way that wouldn't allow for this.

One other possibility, is you take around 10g of Carbs out of every meal, then add the same amount back from Fat, so you add around 4-5g, (36-45 calories), Fat per meal.

This should promote a Carb deficeit that Fat would supply, but stay roughly around a maintenance calorie amount.

I wouldn't go lower than this even if you did it, as cutting too many Carbs could affect training and cut the amount of Carb supply, the Brain would want to assist functions.

Again I'm not trying to override any advice a trainer gives you, I'm just putting these things out there as an afterthought or a for instance.

You are doing brilliantly, so keep up the hard work, you should be so, so proud of yourself.

for cardio she has me doin usual 30min b4 weights 3 days a week. she also wants me to come in one day and do 60mins doing a interval heart rate training. i haven't tried it yet but i'm goin to give it a shot.

you talked about counting calories. should i start doing so? i wont lie when i say i cant stand keeping a daily food journal. i never stick to it. is that something i should consider giving a shot?

believe me i have seen a difference in confidence. today i went swimming in the pool at the gym and didnt feel shy or that i should hide myself. i know after i saw the thin girls when i went to change and looked in the mirror and wanted to complain about body again. b4 i allowed myself to start pointing out the fat on me, i told myself, "dont u dare start! Last year u were two dress sizes bigger and couldnt even buy a bathing suite top at a normal store! u had to get it custom made! so shut up!" lol so...i did. i smiled and felt great!

I'm gonna be swimming for a while now bc i think i pulled a tendon on left leg. its on the back part behind the knee. every time i get up from the floor i feel it straining. so the swimming and the hot tub have been helping. this way im still getting in some sort of exercise but not hurting myself in the process. :)

Personally I find it encourages me to eat better, as I actually have to sit down and write in black on white that I ate that chocolate icecream.

Post by rockchick_82808 »

i was able to talk mom into goin in on a weight loss class at gym. its 12 weeks, 3 days a week. u get a nutrition course each day and a personal trainer for 40-50min. the avg. weight loss is 30lbs a person! i'd be happy with loosing ten in that amount of time. i dont know when this is goin to take place yet but i'll post it when it does. ive still been swimming in the pool as leg heals. its almost there. i cant wait bc i miss the workouts sooo much! i feel like a bum! i havent gone on the scale these past few weeks. im too scared. lol!

i pulled a tendon on left leg. it wasn't even from working out it from walking in the park. lol! so every time i would bend down to the floor at work and move something from a shelf it would hurt like hell standing up. its still a lil sore but its getting better its no where near where it was b4. thank god for that.

Keep doing whatever is still feasible, and keep making sure most importantly, the eating habits stay on track. Injuries should never be a precursor to crappy eating, as they are not closely interlinked things, save for some emotional, comfort eating style connection, which shouldn't be too habit forming or mentally controlling, if you are strong and kick those feelings into touch before they can really take hold.

GOOD LUCK and no worries okay. You'll be back to your best in no time :).

thank u. its been really getting on nerves even more so now. bf just talked with me and wants me to start swimming by myself. to not wait until i can get someone 2 go with me. i never have gone by myself bc i become self conscious. this will be a big step for me. it will be good too. because with swimming i can get a good 1/2 to and hr in everyday until leg gets better. then go into the steam room for 5min too. i know once i get into that pool tomorrow nite i will be fine its just working up nerves to go there.

When I used to go to the gym pool to swim laps I was also very self conscious and totally intimidated by the "big dogs" who swam like a ba zillion laps. I started wearing the swim goggles and a swim cap, and it really helped me to feel like I blended in (maybe it was because they couldn't "see" me, lol!) but anyway, I just found a lane and acted like I knew what I was doing and did thing and before long it didn't faze me a bit, I loved time in the pool and looked forward to it. Go for it girl!! :D :D

Post by rockchick_82808 »

I feel your pain, as I have an arm injury that has pretty much stopped upper body workouts completely. It is frustrating, but what I am doing is focusing on the parts I can work. I am doing lower body and core work - just trying to burn those calories any way I can.
You and I have similar problems - just different areas of the body. Maybe you can focus on upper body strength workouts and lots of core work (planks, rev. crunches, etc.) to try to maintain and continue to fuel your metabolism.
In your swimming, you can focus on pulling with your arms strokes, with minimal use of the legs or do some treading water types of drills. I used to pull knees up and then tread water for 1 minute - doing about 4 sets - great for the abs, and arms and really gets the heart pumping!
Don't let this injury derail you or get you down - you have come too far to let that happen.
I know you don't like to keep a food diary - but it really is a good way to stay accountable for what you eat. I have been keeping one now for about 3 weeks, and it has made a HUGE difference in daily food choices. I keep it logged in on fittracker - you can go to profile and click on "view meals" to see kind of how i am doing it. It does take extra time, you have to write down calories, fat, proteins, carbs on the foods you eat - don't let that intimidate you, I actually kind of like it now (a little addicted to it too) because I know exactly what I am eating, and what is in it - doesn't allow me to cheat (unless it's cheat day  - I don't log that one! lol! and makes me feel like I am more in control of weight loss.
Hang in there - you have alot of positive energy - use it to your advantage - don't let anything stand in your way of your goal, you can and will do it. Take care of your leg - I wish i had some advice on how to help it - other than just take it easy on it, give it time to heal, some injuries take longer than others.

Take care! :D :D

thank u for the encouragement. i used it. i couldnt just sit here. it ugh! i decided to give it a shot. i still feel as though i half assed it. lol only bc of not being able to do as much. i do feel so much better. i needed to read that. i was laying in bed and was reading it on phone. it was what i needed to get off butt. bc of this i was always comin home from work, eat, nap for 2hrs, then tv then sleep. and the same thing over and over. i couldnt take it anymore! im not the type of person who can stand sitting around all day. not anymore anyways. i use to be that way for many years when i was depressed and the thought of goin back to that scared me. so i want to thank u for the push i needed. bf was tellin me the same so were co-workers. i just felt that if i went to the gym id feel worse afterwords bc of what i couldnt do. i tell u what tho- bc of not goin for so long i still got butt kicked! arms are jello and its feels weird typin this as we speak. lol
