...just regular eggs. And they didn't agree with me...
Today was lat, back, forearm day. Excellent workout. Also, out of curiousity I decided to step on the scale while I was at the gym with the trainer. I'm down 2.5 lbs since Monday, a clear indication that I need to increase caloric intake. The trainer was super excited, and I was happy to see progress though I don't want to lose muscle. It's a nice sign that I'm on the right track with diet though! I'll be playing with diet over the next week or two, tweaking it so I can eat as much as possible without gaining weight with a steady and SLOW weight loss. I honestly don't feel like I have a lot of weight to lose, but need to work on leaning through cardio and diet. It's trying to find the balance that I'm after.
The bonus of this information is that the trainer has agreed that I am on the right track with what I have been experimenting with, which means that I can get away with having fruit for second and third meals and may even be able to slip in a cheat meal here and there (though I won't decide this until after 1 week weigh in - as in one full week since I started clean diet, which would be next Monday). I think I am only going to cheat when I feel like I will go absolutely bonkers if I don't as I want to make any "steps back" on progress totally worth it. So far though, I am completely satisfied with a 100% clean diet. It's amazing how much food you can eat when you are 100% clean. It seems like all I ever do is eat!
I will have body fat measured either Sunday (if I can fit it into CRAZY schedule with the kids' plans as well as own schedule), or more realistically when I go in for PT session on Monday morning. I am both extremely excited and extremely nervous to find out where I stand, and I am hoping to be right around 19% body fat...but we'll see! I probably want to aim for 13-14% by May show. Depending on where I stand, I may even start looking into an earlier show if I think I could be ready, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
I am really excited for this journey. Today's weigh in was really encouraging, as I believe I can do amazing things with body if I put mind to it. I am blessed to have great genetics ( 48 year old mother has God given abs of steel and biceps to kill for, and dad was a NW arm wrestling champion back in the day), the support of a great trainer, supportive friends and family (including all shapefit buddies), and hands down the BEST mentor in the world, dear friend, Cassie Gose. I should mention, part of the motivation for me doing this competition is the fact that I am going to be turning 30 in May. I thought, what better way to bring in 30s than to be in the BEST shape of life!
