Older women needing guidence

Post by Beccie »

Not knowing what to eat, to loose weight. Can be a hassle. I have a glutin problem in family, but I LOVE to eat bread. We are taught to eat the five food groups. Then told to eat no breads, less fats and and more veggies. Fast foods resturants don't help nd our life styles don't help us to keep up with fresh fruits and vegatables.
Where are we to turn? And what exercises do we do?

Just eat healthy amounts of Proteins Carbs and Fats, from Lean Meat / Poultry and Fish sources, clean Carbs, and EFA Fat sources in the main.

Have 5-6 small meals a day, with good portion control, so don't overindulge with Healthy foods, or you could still get calorie conversion from the excess. Also don't undereat.

Healthy food is only worthwhile, when eaten in a healthy way, so very conservative portions, like 100 calories a meal for example, won't work well, and might lead to reversed effects. Unless there's a medical reason for eating tiddly calorie amounts, it's not worth it.

Avoid pointless, silly, and faddy / fancy diets like Atkins, and other stuff, that advocates virtually no Carbs, almost Protein only diet etc etc.

Again, unless medically instructed for some reason, a lot of those fad / designer diets seem to be poorly proven, or unhealthy.

Most things like Bread, Rice and other sources of Gluten, often have Gluten free alternatives these days, and with better labelling requirements on food these days, Gluten foods, should have a small sign or motif, and / or something written on the outside, telling you it's a Gluten source.

Also Googling Gluten free food sources, may yield results on the internet, if you're not sure what Gluten foods, have Gluten free alternatives.

Have you ever been tested for Celiac disease? If you know there are gluten problems in your family you really need to be tested. It can make such a huge difference. If you do have Celiac and you eliminate gluten you may see some weight loss just from that. Going gluten free can make a HUGE difference in how you feel if you have Celiac. But, going gluten free is very hard because gluten is almost everything. husband has adopted a gluten free lifestyle and it's made a huge difference. Let me know if I can help.
