Strength vs Endurance and Hypertrophy

Post by brad_69 »

I'm still looking to gain muscle while staying staying cut and trying to become more so but today I changed up workout a bit. Rather than going pure weights with rests and such I just did super sets tri sets and quad sets. Will this help build muscle at all or was I not giving enough recovery time and this will just help tone a bit and burn too many cals?

I did a super set of horizantal rows for the rear delts(Hold the cables in opposite hands in fornt of body and pull back till arms are straight out to sides) and inverted rows
Tri set of chins dips and push ups
quad set for shoulders hitting rotator cuffs medials and rear
along with a couple odds and ends. Is this a good idea for a really light guy with huge metabolism?

True which is why I said tri set and quad set. I was working 3 and 4 workouts in lie a circuit.

they will burn a lot of cal's but mostly during recovery as you'll cause a lot of muscle damage with them...they're a little iffy really as you tax similar motor units at the same time which is good but some may become over worked and therefore if not enough recovery, you'll soon overtrain...a better idea would be to do "extensive sets" where you work from your weakest variation to strongest such as wide pull ups, medium pull ups, chin ups all in a row but start with only 6 repsd for wide than go to failure with the rest...this way your reps aren't getting too high (endurance) which won't build muscle

Ya I'm not going to do that special workout every time but I was thinking I could work it in every once in a while. And I likeyour suggestion I could give that a try sounds pretty interesting.
