Strained Back

Post by AnnaCruzDC »

I strained back last weekend, and it huuuuurts. Told the doctor and he told me to take motrin and keep out of the gym until it heals. It hurts to sleep, to look left, right, up and down. Has any one else gone through this too?

Lower neck/upper back. When I look down, up, sideways, it hurts.

I was doing crunches on an ab machine, and I probably used neck to crunch up instead of isolating ab muscle, so anyways, I felt a sharp pain after I went up and its been hurting since. I can't sleep on a pillow because sleeping on an incline hurts. I'm hoping to recover within a week or two...but I was wondering what other people do/did to overcome this and if it was still possible to exercise without moving back/neck muscles?

Final diagnosis: pinched nerve! booo. I'm doing physical therapy and on stronger pain meds. No upper workouts for me until I fully heal.

i don't think taking out half of your workout is the answer ecspecially since it's probably from poor posture which you need strength training to improve...you can't increase the strength of the weak muscles with out resistance of some sort and therefore you'll never actually solve the problem

what has your doctor or whoever told you?
