I'm a big fan of MET-RX Protein Plus and EAS Pro-Complex. They are simple matrix proteins with Glut. that don't have these huge claims stamped all over their packaging. Now for taste, nothing beats Muscle Milk!!!!
A good, but very expensive brand to use is Beverly International. Beverly is such a great company, they package good quality stuff and the keep it simple and make products that work! No Snake Oil with Beverly. You have to get their Muscle Provider and Ultra 40 - great for when you are trying to lose weight.

There stuff seems good, but the Fat loss products look bad. I only looked at the content of the 7-Keto product, and it contains at least 2 sources of Caffeine and Hoodia content.
I would be very appauled by that, as it looks extremely unhealthy, but that's just me.
Can't knock the other stuff though, except the the NO Creatine product isn't really worth it, just a promise much, but deliver little kind of thing, that some companies do.

Not bad.
I use the one that's made by the Nutrisport company in Wigan.
Mine has around 35g Protein, (Whey Concentrate), and 50g Carbs, (Maltodextrin), with about 4g Fats, and some Pea Fibre, in every serving.
BCAA's and Glutamine are boosted in the profile, and their site has a PDF file, (you need Acrobat reader to see it), which tells you about it.
I don't take that much, as 4 scoops a time, means I'd use it in about 2 weeks. I use roughly about 10-12 tspns a go, wheh I train at nights, then about 3-4 after workouts if it's earlier, (to get the ball rolling), then go home for something to eat.
By doing this it lasts around 5 weeks, and costs around £13.50, for a 3lb tub.
I could buy a larger size, but frankly it wouldn't fit in bag going to the Gym, and probably give me a hernia as well
If yours hasn't got Carbs, thne you'd got options.
1. Buy one with Carbs.
2. Eat some Whole-grain Bread with or without Honey.
3. Mix some crushed Oats into the shake, and maybe add some Honey if you like, and see how that goes.
For me mine is a good price, and a good basic quality. There is a similar one done by Peakbody of Gateshead, but for me the content per serving was much higher and the price was higher though fair for the additional content per scoop, tub sizes being similar.
Other companies do do good ones, but some don't have Carbs in them, which you need, to stimulate an Insulin response and get Protein into the muscles, or it would be harder ot get the benefit without Carbs.
Some may say they have a superior quality protein to the basic standard concentrate, but without Carbs, probably not worth it.
The other option is, you try a site like Myprotein.co.uk.
They have custom mixes, so you pick a Protein source, a carb source a Fat source, and other stuff like Creatine, Glutamine etc etc, and the flavours, container type, size, etc etc, and then you can choose exactly how you want it.
So you could have 70% Protein, 20% Carbs, 10% Glutamine for example, but it's totally your choice.
You thne just pay online, so that might be another choice for you.

sorry should have posted the carb content too, its only 2g per 33g serving! is this too little? its also got around 1.65g sugar per 33g. what is the name of the one you use? it sounds pretty good to me- price wise too! whey protein cost £45 for a 5lbs tub!!!!
whats a good protein/carb ratio to look for when buying next batch?

Yes Carbs are too low.
The one I used is called "Protein and Complex Carbohydrates". As stated it's made by nutrisport, and you can view a PDF file about it, by visiting their website.
As for the Protein Carb ratio, some have a 50/ 50 ratio, around 50g Protein and Carbs, some have less Protein. You don't need massive amounts of Protein post workout, but more Carbs could help, so one with a higher Carb ratio is a better option I think.
