How to loose weight & burn fat while fasting?

Post by raazaa »

Hey everyone.

I am a Muslim & fast during month of Ramdhan, in which we eat at dawn & then stay away from food till sunset. (we discontinue eating/drinking at dawn again.)

I would like to know how can I maximize weight loss & fat burn process utilizing this routine, with both excercise & diet. As I am staying empty stomach (& dehydrated!) throughout day so I am sure there CAN be a way to OPTIMIZE this oppurtunity.

Looking forward to hear suggestions from all fellow members.

Thanks in advance!

raazaa,

I have some friends in your religion who find it difficult to go through the month just working their regular jobs let alone, trying to exercise. They best advise I can give is eat the proteins and the slow burning carbs and the healthy fats offered during your meals. As I am not familiar with your diet to steer you towards the right foods you should do this research yourself.

For this month of fasting, exertions should probably be moderate aerobic activities, LOTS of sleep, weights in the 12- 20 rep range for 2-3 sets. I can not recall, but no water is allowed either, right? Make sure you hydrate as much as possible while you can. Remember rest is as important as activity. Keep your calories dense in nutrition and very low in empty and meaningless calories (ie, the sweets).

Best of luck and sorry I can not be of more help.

Cheers

Loosing FATs during the Ramadan Fast

Post by hhassan »

Raazaa

During your Muslim fast (17-18 hrs) you body will be forced to use the fat store in you body. The liver release the fatty acids to ur blood to be used as energy, since no external sources of energy are available. This is called Autolysis and results in ketone bodies in your blood. I ketone bodies exceeds a certain limit it is called ketosis. U need to drink a lot of water to get rid of the ketone bodies. Long interval fast has similar effect of the H.I.I.T, fat release to be consumed by your body cells. I always loose the fats around midsection during Ramada and it is very obviously noticed.

Also during fast, the energy is diverted from the digestive system to the immune system and metabolism. So the body starts repairing its cells. It also decrease the cell proliferation, resulting in healing of some serious diseases.

Scientific researces also showed that body tissues rejuvenation and even extention of the live span happend when test animals were subject to long periods fast (more than 12 hrs).

To make use of fast to loose Fat (NOT Weight) advice is:

1. calculate you required fat loss per week (1 lb = 3500 cal)
2. Set ur cal intake to create a dificit of 500-1000 Cal/day.
3. set you carb:protien:Fat ratio as (50:30:20)
take vegi and fruits carb (no rice and bread). Protien from fish, meat, chick..etc. and add 1tsp of olive oil to your salad.
4. eat 4 balanced meals (Sunset, 10:30pm,12:30,4am)
5. Break you fast with dates and water and wait for 10-15mins before eating.
6. Drink a lot of water and juide between meals.
7. Shift you exercises to the evening where you can drink and eat.
8. do light to moderate routines 2x/week
9. do body building as moderate weight circuit 2x/week
10. NO HIIT is needed to loose fat.

Good luck and let me know how it works.

i'd opt for low volume wts as a highish volume will casue too much muscle damage and you wont be taking in enough cal's to re-fuel/repair them so you'll be definatley be losing muscle

i wouldn't take advantage of it really, i'd simply try and maintain strength levels as best as i can
