I have heard that what you eat in a 45 minute-phase after a workout is essential if you are building muscle, it sounds logical and I believe it is true, but does this mean that if i eat the WRONG kind of things; as an example if i have protein shake (thats positive i know) AND perhaps something to eat like, normal food.. lets say chese-sandwiches, rice & chicken, or pasta & salad~ish does that affect muscle bulding or anything in any way?
in short: would it be best to skip lunch/protein-shake after workout & ONLY drink the protein-shake?

After Workout
After workout you need a dose of carbs and proteins (Carbs before proteins). So you can for example take a carbo shake/Eat an apple or some food that contains carbs with low GI and then take a Protein shake/Eat a meal which contain a good amount of protein. Myself i eat a big apple and then take a protein shake. As long as you get carbs (low GI) and proteins after a workout then you are good. I prefer taking a protein shake after workout instead of food since the body can absorb proteins from a shake faster than from food.
Edit: If you have gotten the right amount of carbs and protein after your workout any other food you consume shouldn't affect much, Chicken and rice are rich in proteins aswell, if you are eating the right type of rice (I dont know the word for "fullkorn" in english ><)
