What diet are you on?

Post by BellaLucia »

This is fourth day on the first phase of the south beach diet. Has anyone tried slim-fast and did it work for them?

Hi there,

Personally I am just on a healthy eating plan. I have to say that I don't hink using south beach diet is the best idea. It will give you some quick weight loss by depriving your body of nutrients that are vital for daily functioning. It's not beneficial for your health. And it'snot something that can be maintained for life. The weight typically comes back on after a while.

One size fits all diets are not usually a good idea. Everyone is different and has their own unique nutritonal needs. I would encourage you to consider a sustainable healthy eating plan.

but depression medicine made me gain it back. Although I'm on phase 1 of the diet, I try to eat a pear a day.

sarah's right...i always tell client's that diets don't work, food plan's do..waht happens when you finish all the phases of the diet? it's not permanent so might come back again...you need to find a food plan that works for you, that you can follow and that makes you happy and not deprived...exercise is also going to hepl..what re you doing for that?

if you can or haven't already, get some scales that gives a reading so you know how much actual fat and not water you are losing...a water reading would be handy to to get a more accurate figure...Tanita scales have them but not every model...keep up the good work though

Hi BellaLucia,

A safe amount of weight to lose is 1-2 pounds per week. Water and muscle is what you have most likely lost in that amount of time and very little fat. Losing muscle lowers your metabolism making it harder to lose weight since muscle is more metabotically active than fat. You will then have to eat less to support your lower weight.

for the headsup. I didn't realize that losing water wasn't beneficial in the long term.
