Sounds to me like your uncle is using heavy weights to train his abs. Best bet is not to use weights, or very light weights incorporated with your ab training. Personally, I prefer hanging leg lifts, decline sit-ups/crunches, and your basic sit-ups/crunches. Do as many as you can until your abs are hurting, rest, and do some more. Try to do abs at least 2 times per week But don't overtrain your abs, because they need recovery just like any other muscle.
Morning cardio is a great way to lose excess fat and burn calories. preference is using orbital bike, but as long as you get some kind of cardio in, you will lose fat and gain cardio. Shoot for 3 times per week for about 20-30 minutes per day. Good luck.

i don't agree with the post above...even if he wasn't training with wts for abs it's more that his transverse abdominis is weak...it's job is to hold posture as well as the other ab muscles "in" giving a tight waist...abs are like any other muscle so the rep ranges are the same...if you want them to pop up like a fitness model than 8 - 15 reps are go so floor crunches won't be hard enough...you can either add wt or choose a harder variation...anything higher than 20 will only give endurance and won't burn calories or build muscle...morning cardio should not be done on an empty stomach
