Great job with the brain tumor run chris. Do you know anyone personally with a brain tumor? step mom had one.
YAH St. Louis Park is an older more city like suburb of Minneapolis. Definitely close to Minneapolis.. But if his job is close to downtown it's probably a good thing he is so close to the city. Rush hour is busy and fast paced. nice if he could work from home. Do you mind me asking what his career is in?
Didn't sleep last night again, tired this a.m., and still itchy. Got a book finished and new one started. Finally tried again at 5 a.m., last time I looked 5:20 a.m, and woke up to Chuck shaking me and I just wanted to sleep. Unfortunately have things to do.
Bekah your area sounds so pretty there.
I see you making that Bekah but unfortunately it takes time....yeah I know stinks but such is life. Yeah most dogs don't like it, however since we did Buddy's since he was a puppy he loved it. Our other guys were done by the vet and Alex loved the vet. However, Brandy and Cassidy tolerated him/her. Chuck's Mr. Bo Jangles "DID NOT" like it at all. Before I knew him Chuck took Mr. Bo to the vet and told the vet to muzzle him as he will bite as he DOES NOT like his nails clipped. So this idiot says "oh I have never been bitten"....well he was that day and Chuck also promptly picked Mr. Bo up and out to the car they went to the vet his mom and dad used for years.
Oh mom used to buy a whole coconut and I'd break it up and put pieces in the fridge to cool and eat...I loved it.
Yeah I am going to try Bekah so wish me luck.
Well a good day to all. Only a quick trip tomorrow.
I'm sorry about that itchiness and lack of sleep, Sue.
Funny about Chuck's vet--usually they are more than eager to pop the muzzle on!
All of our earlier dogs were fine with me clipping their nails--the exceptions have been the two we got when they were already older. We had to take Rio to the vet to get it done; Money I can do, but I need DH to hold him. As soon as I'm done, he gets up and runs away--and then turns around and runs right back for his bone.
Good luck with your Wed. shopping, and with finding a dentist.
Was your stepmom cured, Bekah? That is scary stuff. I'll try to post the 2 sec. video.
I love coconut--between coconut milk, coconut oil, coconut shreds, coconut butter, coconut palm sugar and coconut nectar, I use a lot of it.
Sounds like a great move for your son, YAH. I haven't heard specifically about that book, but I have heard quite a bit about the benefits of a ketogenic diet lately. I order most of coconut stuff online and the prices are pretty reasonable.
Sounds like you had a nice, active, outdoorsy weekend, Chris!
Sue i feel for you at night not sleeping and with itchiness. i struggle at night too.
There really is truth to the saying that things always seem better in the morning.
i like coconut milk too. Otherwise i don't eat too much coconut.
Mo, stepmom's tumor wasn't cancerous. She had it removed 5 or 6 years ago now. They discovered it because she had a seizure and she still does have seizures.
Hi All,
I don't know when I was here last. I walked at lunch time on monday and tuesday evening. So I am good there.
Thanks Becky, I lost an Uncle to a brain tumour and know two survivors and one of boys teachers did not survive her tumour. That is a lot of people to know for just me. I am glad your step mom had a good outcome.
I had book club last night, and then had to work the opening shift this morning. I half-expected to wake up with a headache, but I didn't--yay! I'm sure I'll be ready for bed early tonight; 5 hours of sleep is not ideal quota.
I picked first strawberries of the season yesterday. I made some chia jam and have some berries macerating for shortbread.
I'm sorry about your uncle, Chris.
I'm glad your step-mom is doing okay, Bekah. That's too bad that removing the tumor didn't stop the seizures.
Interesting on the ketogenic diet for fitness competitions, Boss. I've been hearing about it in relation to helping with diabetes and some other disorders, but I've not tried it. And probably won't, since blood sugar is fine and I do like sweet potatoes, plantains, and oats.
your ahead of us for berries Mo. are's aren't for two or three more weeks.
sorry about all the people you've known that have had brain tumors. I didn't realize it was so common, Chris. Yeah the seizures didn't stop from the operation.
Mo, for working out i sometimes get i hate to say it but an upset stomach and diaharea. I've been solving it by only drinking liquids before i workout. which is good in the heat too. Should i try a gel or what do you think like for tour next week when i bike 35 miles. I've biked 20 just drinking gatorade and i haven't been hungry or anything. but is almost double.
I went hiking again today. it's hot and i LOVED it. it started raining at the end and it felt so good. Have a nice weekend!
EDIT: forget it MO. i got some ideas about what to eat and drink.
We read "A Fall of Marigolds" for June, Bekah. It was okay. "A Visit from the Goon Squad" is the July book; I haven't started that yet.
I would be careful about using a gel on the bike tour if you haven't tested it on a practice run. Sometimes I'd use them for long runs, and they were actually the one thing that seemed to bother stomach. If I remember correctly, it may have been just the ones with caffeine, but it's been awhile! Usually blander foods are better--bananas, oatmeal, pb sandwich, bagel, those sorts of things. It sounds like you've already got it figured out, but if not, even something like a handful of pretzels might be an option.
Hi All,
We had a rainy week last week which made it harder to get out walking. I am still practicing chanter and bagpipes. Our regular lessons have ended for the summer. I am trying to get in touch with someone for private lessons. We will see how that works out. Today I kicked myself out of the car and onto feet. Walking 2 x 20 minutes forth and back from work today, as well as 40 minute walk at lunch time.
Glad you didn't get a headache after your busy schedule Mo. Oh yummy strawberries!!
Great job with the biking and hiking Becky!! I hope you get your issue figured out.
We have a ways to go before we get hot here!
Have a great day all!
Almost time for meds, breathing and a lay down...tuckered out with not sleeping again last night....
I have every confidence you will get to your goals, Bekah. Yeah most dogs too but we started with both Cassidy and Buddy Max when they were puppies so they were used to it.
I loved coconut and chocolate too.
Funny story....first Chuck hates coconuts due to a school play he had to do where he had to eat coconut slices. You get the picture. So he had a "sixth sense" when there was even the slightest amount of coconut in something.
Well his dad bought a Pepperidge Farm cake and he told me about the coconut and how little it was and far down on the list. I said to him he's gonna know....no says he did "impossible".
We sat down to have dessert and Chuck says after the first little bite there's "coconut in this" so into his napkin it went with his dad saying "no there isn't"....well Chuck says where's the box dad and at that point he knew he was busted but let him see it anyway....his dad never did it again.
Oh I have always loved the dentist, it's just a matter of finding one within Handyride range and one that is taking new patients etc etc. Wish me luck.
Thanks on the itchiness and sleep, Molasses, along with the dentist.
No the vet was a big A-hole in addition to having his nose up his butt. So Chuck went back to his old vet, Dr. Decker and Mr. Bo was a happy camper. So were all our cats too.
Bekah if you are on thyroid pills it could be part of the problem .....two articles recently have mentioned it.
Chris I see you are doing well with you walking and sorry about your uncle and one of your boys teacher.
Wow Molasses, book club and then an early start the next morning HUGS to you. Wow 5 hours straight I'd kill for that today. Mind you in early and younger years I could sleep around the clock. Never happen today.
MMM strawberries. Also sounds like you put them to good use.
Bekah I see you had a good walk on Saturday.
Bummer on the rain Chris, and glad to hear you are still practicing the chanter and bagpipes. You need to video tape yourself and share.....Hope you can find someone for private lesson. Good for you on the walks today.
Currently 96 degrees with 10% humidity and 33 dew point....fine by me....then again we have the a/c but was outside and not bad at all....not looking forward to those triple digits in July, August and September.
Well I am off to meds, breathing, and big shopping tomorrow....should be an adventure with them paving our parking lot area. I called Teri and told her to stop two apartments down....wish us luck.
Things have been kind of busy lately--working, weeding, strawberry-picking, house stuff. And wakes. The 102 yr old mom of a Y member died, and then newest personal training client, the 87 yr old, passed away quietly in his sleep. His wake was this evening.
Sorry about the lack of sleep, Sue; hope you caught up last night and had plenty of energy for shopping today. I hated coconut as a kid, but I have no idea why. I only started liking it maybe 15 years ago when I tried an oatmeal-coconut cookie recipe. Now, as I said, I could live on it. How's the dentist search going?
Yay on walking and practicing, Chris. I'm sure that, your family and your job, keep you hopping! Hope the private lessons work out for you.
Hey, Bekah, Bama, YAH, hope all is well with all of you.
Hi all! The sun is shining and I am walking today. two 20 minutes walks to get to work and home again and a 45 minute walk at lunch time. oldest son is away for the first time on a school trip. It will be weird without him home. I am very happy for him to get away and be with his peers.
Hi Mo! You have been busy. Sorry about the wakes.
That is a funny story about Chuck and coconuts! Nice and warm in your neck of the woods. I still have to read the report. I will get to that later today.
Great job on the walking Chris! Did you find someone for private lessons? I haven't started lessons yet.. I was going too and i want too but i think i might wait till fall. Just money wise. i still play though and practice on own.
we freeze picked berries Mo. Do you freeze yours too. You what tastes the best after being frozen is corn. It tastes like it just came from the farmers field.
I liked your story on the coconut Sue. It was funny. i'm the same way with salt. Growing up mom never added salt to anything. Now whenever she does to any of her recipes i can taste it and know with her saying anything.
