hi mo and sue and everyone, :)

i really appreciate the stuff you showed me though like mindfulness meditation and gratefulness mo. I'm on the fence on mindfulness meditation because some people say it's new age. But it seems really beneficial. What do you think on that? i'm pretty liberal on stuff but i was just wondering. i definitely appreciate thinking of things to be grateful for though it's helpful.

I'm trying a partial fast. I heard of a study where they did a water fast and it helped them. To be honest considering it was a long time ago, it might really be they starved them and not fasted. not sure how accurate the studies are. But maybe there is a nutrition component involved and that is why it worked for some? it's a little alternative though and out there. it did make me motivated though to start eating healthier and fasting partial which i am doing. I also do it for spirituality.

I'm also am walking, and losing a little weight although i could care less right now. I'm starting soon a DBT therapy course. and i do still play the piano.

That's update. Sue i really like to see how you are doing and appreciate your emails although i haven't been responding. hope everyone is well. :)

I think fasting can be really helpful in certain conditions, Bekah. As long as your dr okayed it for you, you might find it helps with insulin sensitivity and balancing your blood sugars. I've been following an intermittent fasting protocol for over a year now, eating in an 8 hr window, and feel like it works well for me. It's supposed to help with longevity, giving the body a chance to repair itself when it's not busy digesting a constant stream of food. Whether it actually does that or not, I don't know. :? I do think it helps keep weight down and I don't find it difficult at all so I see no reason to stop. :)

Having attended a very conservative, evangelical church for quite a few years, I had a few qualms about meditation (particularly mantra meditation) and even yoga, but after trying them, I decided I really don't experience them as religious at all. I think if you feel weird about it though, you can probably get the same positive effects from prayer or just sitting quietly and contemplating God/life or even lying on your back in the grass, watching the clouds and thinking of nothing. As I think you've probably gathered, I am always reading about and trying different things; I don't drink the Kool-Aid, philosophy is to take what works for me and never mind the rest. There is no One Size Fits All, IMO, with the exception of GRATITUDE--I don't think there's anyone alive who wouldn't benefit from counting their blessings and focusing on what is right and good in their life. :sunshine: I hope the DBT helps you, too.

Thanks on the cyst, Bama. It could be worse--being almost up between shoulder blades, I only notice it in bed or if I sit back against the chair back--but I hope I can get rid of it. I tried Prid drawing salve yesterday, but didn't see any real change. I used the castor oil and tea tree today, so we'll see if that does anything. DH expected to be stuck in the bathroom, but he really wasn't. I don't know if it was the prep he used (2 doses of Dulcolax and a bottle of Miralax in 64 oz of lemonade on the prep day, and then 2 bottles of magnesium citrate in the morning) or if he was just lucky, but he said he's had much worse experiences with stomach bugs.

I hope the Saucony's work for you. I have a pair that I wear for work--they are very comfortable. I've never been able to find a New Balance that fit foot right, but DS just sent me a link to a NB outlet--he said he got a pair of running shoes for $30 and free shipping. Let me know if you want to check it out and I'll send it to you.

I can't blame for DH for being unhappy with his "friend!" That must have been an uncomfortable meeting for the other guy--I wonder if he'll do the right thing and cough up the money after all these years.

DH and I took Mon to the park this morning. We made the dog walk into a circuit workout--run a little bit, do some squats, run a minute, do push-ups, etc. It was fun even though it was cold and raw today. Spring should be coming tomorrow though, with temps in the 60s this week. :) Then we had our DD's MIL and her boyfriend over for tea in the afternoon. He made a cheesecake yesterday and brought it over; I baked some cookies and made some hot crab dip, put out a few munchies. It was nice.

Now I have to prepare for the week--it's going to be kind of busy with normal work hours, coaching running club, two evening personal training appointments, and annual eye exam. So if I don't make it on much, I'll be thinking of you guys anyway. Sweet dreams, everyone! :D

Happy Monday everyone.

Another beautiful day here . The temps are in the 60's sun is out so it couldn't be any better. Love this type of weather.

Mo, We don't expect the guy to cough up the money after all these years and DH says now he wished he wouldn't have said anything but to late. LOL.

I'm not finding the Saucony shoes that comfortable so far . have worn them on the treadmill twice . They seem to be to wide for me and are hitting ankle bone . They don't hurt feet but feet feel very tired plus up legs . I will continue until this weekend and if not better by then take them back. :( .

Oh I loss 6 pounds when i had colonoscopy. Loved that part of it . But I actually did spend all day on the pot . DH was even going to set up a tv for me to watch . hindend got so sore sitting on it. LOL> Doc said I wouldn't need another one that all was good so glad of that .

Dh woke up a couple of days ago with the white of his eye solid red. It appears to be a little better today but we are watching it and a few more days and off to the doctor with him if it isn't better .

Nothing big planned today . i am going to take car out for a while this after noon . I haven't driven it in a while and I'm sure it needs to be started. Maybe just go up to Meijers or the used book store . In the mood for a book .

Sorry about the shoes, Bama. I don't know why it's so hard finding comfortable shoes.

Did you find any good books?

Your DH probably broke a blood vessel in his eye. aunt had that happen twice while she lived with me. The first time I ran her to the eye doctor because it looked so alarming. He was very blase about it, and there was no treatment, so the second time we did what you're doing and eventually it went away. It's scary though.

I saw the ophthalmologist yesterday for a regular check-up--no cataracts or glaucoma, eyes are healthy. :sunshine:

Have a great day, everyone~

Hi All,
Looks like I am taking the week off. :? I woke up saturday morning and was dizzy and feeling yucky. That has been going on for a number of days now. To day is the first day I don't feel dizzy. :D I figure it is viral and will just wait it out. :thumb:

Yay on the good eyes Mo! :sunshine:

Glad the test went well for you Bama! I will have to do that every 7 years. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks Mo. I think i will try what you say on the prayer. i like the idea of intermittent fasting too.

Hope you feel better Chris!

I'm sure it's a relief to know your eyes are healthy, mo. espcially if stuff like glaucoma is in the family.

i'm sure it is a relief to have the colonoscopy done bama. mom says they can just send one in and don't need to do a colonscopy now for her but i don't know exactly what she is talking about.

Sue i hope you are doing well. :sunshine:

i am still walking outside. i haven't started DBT yet. but probably next week.

mom is talking about getting a dog. mom is NOT a dog person. i think she wants to get it for me. which is really sweet. Although i love dogs and miss the companionship i'm not really on board. she says it will be her dog. But who's kidding who. i know who's dog it would be. Lola actually has been gone a year on Sunday. It feels like a long time ago.

Have a nice weekend. :)

Hi ladies,

Been a busy week so haven't been on line as much....

Molasses, yes bathroom cleaning went well and got to get a bunch of stuff done on line. Glad to hear hobby's colonoscopy went well. Congrats on the mammo results. I go in two weeks, for mammo and bone test again.

Glad your hubby's colonoscopy went well. Glad your mammo results were good. I already did the eye appointment now just need to go and get glasses while Chuck has his appointment. I am nudging for him to get off his patootie and get his appointment with his heart doctor for the Carotid artery test he needs to get. Plus get his patootie finally to primary doctor too. Good luck with the eye appointment. Don't mess with the cyst Molasses, go and have your dermatologist take it off. I had a very big on back and they took off mine many years back.

Bama, our weather too, in the 70s and by Friday the 80s....gotta love California LOL Had to chuckle with the lady that did her yard. As I said to Chuck today...80s time for me to take summer clothes out. He gave me the look and said "I'll kill you"....the joke is whenever I took summer clothes out in Rochester and even here in California the weather changed for the worst. Rochester more snow and cold, California more cold and rain LOL

Yes Bama, for the most part all is well at our place. So glad you found a good shoe place. Hope the shoes work out for you. I see you are busy sewing for Tilly.

Bet you can't wait to see DD and Chloe.

MMMM good polish fish fry and yikes on the friend that didn't pay. I am with your hubby on this one.

Bekah, hope the meditation works for you. Hope the partial fast continues to go well also. HUGS on the could care less. Hope the DBT therapy goes well and glad you are still playing the piano. No worries on the emails.

Sounds like a fun day at the park Molasses. And a nice time with DD's MIL and her boyfriend too. MMM cheesecake...love it!

Sounds like a busy week for you this week.

Your weather sounds like ours Bama, except by the end of this week we will be in the 80s...I am with your hubby and I don't think he should feel bad for saying anything. I wouldn't have given the keys till I had the money in pocket friend or not.

Sorry about the Saucony shoes...sure hope you can find some.

I can't get the colonoscopy without going to the hospital as with all the medications I have to take and no eating and all the "bathroom stuff". I would be passed out from lightheadedness.

Oh no Bama, your poor hubby. Yikes, do you have a eye wash that he could put some luke warm water in and put to his eye.

Have fun with your care and the used book store...see how I assumed you'd go there LOL

You lucky gal Molasses on your e yes being healthy. I have always been blind as a bat. Till I got the cataracts from the high doses of predno while I was in ICU. They did the surgery one eye at a time and I was shocked when I was all done. I could see far a way which for most of life I couldn't. Well now after all these ears, it's worn off and back to glasses again, once we get back to the eye doctor. I will look at them when Chuck goes for his eye appointment, just have to get him off his patootie to make the appointment.

Chris so sorry to hear you are not well. Glad the dizziness is gone away. Methinks you need to go to the doctor or at least call.

Sending Get Well wishes your way.

Bekah, yeah glaucoma runs in family as grandma had it. You can do a test mail now as I sent for it but still had to deal with the no eating etc and so back it went.

I am fine other than the tiredness and no sleep nights. Unfortunately the itchiness is back again. But then our allergens are in RED ALERT for the rest of this week. HUGS on mom and the dog. Yeah same for us with Buddy Max....so I can feel for you Bekah.

Well I am all caught up and off to take care of the email Chuck sent, do comics and then off to meds, breathing and all that fun stuff.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Afternoon ladies,

Time for the March report already and what happening in April....at least we hope so LOL Wishing you all a good weekend.

March Report

March went very while once again I had to make a change to monthly workouts as I realized I needed to inflate the ball I use for the workout but couldn't find the pump....so did Mari Windsor Pilates for Pink workout instead for the month.

Did have to miss some evening workouts due to knee issues and on the shopping trip day that was workout as in the evening I was not feeling too hot. On a Tuesday evening workout just did dance part as knees were bothering me too much for the jog in place and walking. Second shopping trip of the month did walking RLW style for the morning workout and arms for evening. The last week of March since I had a top to bottom dusting on Tuesday well needless to say being on feet for so long I didn't do walking workout. So all in all a very good month.

Start date for April will be April 3rd For MWF mornings weeks 1 through 4 MWF will do another fav from WHM Flat-Abs Pilates (Mermaid with ball, footwork on ball, swan on ball, mermaid with a twist, back arm rowing, rollover, roll back and up and coordination with ball; MWF evening WHW Get Sleek, Sexy Arms; and T-Th again will do jog in place/walking/dancing for some cardio.

Food goals: Food goals have not changed but remain the same...continue to take vitamin D, and keep up the increase in the fruits and veggies in diet, and try some different type of veggies, which we have been doing well with. Also continue to try out some different recipes, which had we are bound and determined this year to do better with. I will also continue with the getting in chocolate several times a week. PB is no longer an eating option for me. As for desserts we have made a switch and am keeping portion controls as I need to. Our soups mixed with egg noodles are working out great giving up lots of veggies and the sauce is already included; in addition to getting 2 dinners out of a can. Plus tummy likes it too LOL We will continue to have them over other types of noodles, like little farfalle and ditalini pasta too.

We have made up a number of the following ideas for dinners and just adding to our menu. In addition we have a number of ideas for different bases to go over pasta, making casseroles, etc. Plus making calzones, and pastry filled with vegetables and other filling to add to our diet for even more variety. We did a test one and it worked out great.

Trying to continue a variety of foods in our diet. Doing very well getting fish into diet having it on most Friday's and have also been getting it in during the week also. In addition adding diced peppers, potatoes, corn, spinach and other veggies to go with the fish has worked out well too. Still have had to be careful on portions as stomach still rebels on occasion, hence no weight gain in 2016. So will try again for 2017 and slowly increase portion sizes to maybe put some weight on. Wish me luck.

Sounds like a good plan, Sue--good luck! :) I was talking to an older woman at the gym the other day who said her dr told her to drink more caloric liquids (milk, fruit juice, and something else I'm not recalling) to add some weight, so I thought of you (but then of course, promptly forgot again instead of posting for you  ).

I do love me a good calzone--there's a place called Red Moon in a strip mall outside of Princeton that makes wonderful calzones. (Zero ambiance, but good food!) Which reminds me, I should dig out recipe for a spinach and mozz calzone and make that before it gets warm and I don't want to use the oven.

Being very near-sighted also, I was kinda hoping that I'd need cataract surgery one of these days so I could get some new lenses.

Hope your exams go well, and you find glasses you like. I got new glasses last year, and vision didn't change much, so I'm not getting any this year. With prescription, glasses are $$$, so I like to make them last!

Hugs on the anniversary of Lola's passing, Bekah. If your mom does get a dog, I'm sure you''ll fall in love. :) I see a lot of adoptables on Facebook that I'd love to bring home if MonBun would mellow out with other dogs. One day I'll have a whole pack again! :sunshine:

Sorry about the virus--I hope you are feeling better by now, Chris.

I have a new personal training client, a younger woman who wants to lose weight before her Oct. wedding; we have an appt tomorrow. So that should be fun. And I got bumped from running club--only 8 people signed up for the program so boss says she can't pay for 3 coaches, which makes perfect sense to me. I'll just be a sub if one of the two USATF-certified coaches can't make it. (I know DH wasn't happy that I had to crate Mon when I went to running club, so that actually works out fine for me!)

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

Hi again lovely ladies,

Thanks Molasses, it worked out well this a.m., plus with the walk to the office there and back I got in a good workout. I drink milk on Sunday and many times during the week if tummy or throat is bothering me. Thanks for the tips.

MMMM now I will have to buy some of those Pillsbury sheets and make up some calzones LOL Or just use our stuff we have.

Hey some of the best places to eat are small little Italian places. Tony's pizza, the place where Chuck lived had the best pizza on Long Island as they put enough cheese on it and pepperoni and other condiments you'd ask for. Plus their meatball and sausage heroes were to die for. They were all from Italy. They had a small little area in the back for dinners and Chuck and I did that too many weekend nights.

Oh Molasses, the cataract surgery will do it...believe me....it was amazing to me. Unfortunately the first time I looked in the mirror I could see more wrinkles than I wanted to LOL

Same here Molasses, not cheap. But we got it saved up for what the guy said it would cost and when Chuck gets off his duff to make an eye appointment I will get them.

Congrats on the new client and hope all goes well. Sorry on the bump from running club.

Wow Bekah how cool on your mom's DNA test.

Chris, so glad you are feeling better and had a good weekend. I see you got out for a walk on Saturday and cleaning on Sunday. Yup was saying the same thing...time for the Spring cleaning....of course, Chuck just groaned and shook his head. Good job on the walk to day too.

Well I am off to do the funnies and then hopefully read some of the Sunday stories I have left.

Have a nice evening....

Hi, just wanted to say Hello and hope you are all doing fine!! Sorry about being MIA for a bit. I think St. Patrick's day was up last:) We had cold, snow etc. for a bit there and now its been at least up to 50's and some rain but we do have snow on the ground yet here. I've been dog sitting sometimes, gk sitting sometimes and staying up town a few times also so got out a bit. Last time I dog sat, got to have Henry sleep with me also for part of the night:) He did Very well but I of course couldn't fall asleep after I let him out:( That was when they went to a place in Wisc. for a bday bash for both their kids and her family at a pool more for kids kind of hotel:) So now that March is over, is 5 and is 3 already!
I did go and also put them to bed last Fri. as fundraiser for Hospice with lip--sync? I guess the local tv group won at that and son came home cause he was tired and DIL stayed later in town and friends brought her home so I left to sleep over other son's house instead of driving All the way home:)

oldest son did apply for Maintenance job at work and aced the test of things to do so he is now maintenance on afternoon shift:) I'm hoping he likes it and right now for 10 days he's on day shift just to train a bit but will be on his own and he can't wait for that. He's been fixing stuff in kitchen already before he was anyway and always fixes things at this house too. He was a good facility hk for afternoons but was tired of the grumbling among the others etc. They were all day shift but just to much hen pecking I guess.
Not sure what all your doing but I see you are nice and busy with your YMCA and the other parts of what your good at Mo. also:) Glad your tests have been good too! I buy those cheap glasses from drugstore for reading small print. Have been lucky to have good eyesight so far. Need to go again for blood test to see TSH as last time it hadn't moved much from 8.? Should have other things done etc. but just not feeling like going as don't like the Drs. here etc. now at all. I imagine you have warmer weather now also?
Bama, I see your goose changing his outfits also:) Glad you got one in Ohio:) Sorry about your and maybe if she is just taller then others right now, they might just not get so close or? I hope she doesn't try to stoop down though. Stand up tall and proud:) I wish I was a Lot taller:) I notice in pics of day long ago, people seemed to be all shorter? Now their so much taller. van is ok but it seems one small after another:( So far been lucky to have Dh crawl under and also he had to really whack at the part for wheel bearing as aluminum and steel with salt and rust just seem to weld together and is very hard to pull apart!! He heated it up with welder and stuff and let it sit all night and finally after some more hitting, it came apart but he was sore for while.
Sue, I see you had lots of rain so lots of growing in your back yard to pull up:( Glad its done and you can hopefully relax a bit now too and hoping for better sleeps also. Hope you Mammo and bone density goes well also. I don't do those anymore either.
Chris, sounds so great for you to be able to walk to your work etc.:) Sounds like your doing well too. I just wish I still worked;) Keep up the good work!
Becka, if you love dogs, maybe time to get another? I know cousin had to put her 3rd one down but was going to get another one but never got to as she passed away before. Still can't believe she's gone. Go to call her up etc.:( Just seems like this hospital could have done a lot better for her:(
Anyway, just wanted to catch up a bit. Well its April so I'm hoping no more snowstorms but you never know up here:) Guess it will feel a bit warmer when the snow goes also. Lots of snow up north this winter but for us, we had a good one and ice is almost all gone on the big lake even which it usually isn't at this time so the water might be warmer faster maybe this year also?:) Glad no buds have come out as I'm sure we'll have some freezing days yet. Not too far to Easter now even.
You all have a good night and great days and C U again:) take care! :coffee:
