Just dropping in to say HI and tried to read all and sounds like most of you are doing some kind of exercise at least:) Funny weather everywhere I guess too. We had a few warm days, maybe almost up to 40, but it still melted some and we don't have down here what feet they have up north so the big ski races had to be cut a bit since maybe they went over water that had cracked and not safe to go over anymore? But it started snowing big fluffy flake a few days before the race on and off so made the skiing better. Son came up from GB and stayed in Marq. Fri. night and went for 2 pm race and was a winner in his age group anyway and got a nice cowbell:) Looks gold, but is not of course and has a nice colored ribbon for neck etc. He said some hills were very icy after many people going over them and he was pretty sore the next day:) He doesn't get to ski as often in GB. His friend won a cow bell also:) You only won if you were #1 or #2 in your age group. I did see him finally last night on his way out and he left at 10 pm our time so he could finally sleep in his good bed for work for Monday. He slept on couches the last 2 nights. son Dave was alone with kids but I didn't get to Marq. with the snow although I might have tried but I thought son ws sleeping over his brothers in close town but he never made it there to sleep:) So I could have come back to there at least and not all this way back but didn't.
Anyway, all the usual here and looking forward to dog sitting this Thurs. thru next Tues.:) I just hope the snow storms stay away so I can get around a little bit being in town:) It was only 7 degrees when son left last night but not too far south of here, he had clear roads all the way to GB then.
Dh was going to go Marq. on Sunday but his radiator boiled over and he had to get 2 gals of the 50/50 antifreeze and put it in so he didn't go. Its been ok now but he figures he may have to take one out of another truck he got from a neighbor and eventually put that one in this old truck:) Always something with the old vehicles.
Well, not going to catch up much today but hoping all your weather is better and not any bad storms for any of you. I'd rather have snow up here then any rain for sure. Rain just freezes into ice and that is no good. Highest we have been is 40's so far in Jan. I think. I think thats warm since we're usually colder:) HI to everyone and sleep good and have a good week!! take care :coffee: :coffee: :chilly:

Good Morning all,

YAH, sounds like you are going to be busy for a few days Dog sitting. I wish would bring Happy over so I could dog sit. LOL . Nice that your Son won first in his age group . I imagine being from Michigan that they do all the winter sports. I know Husband when he lived there did a lot of Ice Skating. Me , I have never done ice skating but I did as a kid roller skate a lot both outside and indoors. Aunt even made me little skating outfits to wear. I was really young and we could go to the rink without our parents not so today.

Nothing big planned today. We had a little snow yesterday but just a thin covering . Still dark outside but i think it has left . Warmer today than yesterday.

SIL and BIL are heading back to Port St Lucie this weekend. They had rented a place until April and as I mentioned had to fly back for her DD death. Her son told her she needed to go back . They have already cleaned out her house and donated all her clothes to the group that supplies clothes for welfare woman who are looking for jobs. I don't remember what it is called. She had some very nice and expensive clothes . They did determine that it was a heart attack . So young and no sighs of heart problems before. Only 54 . Not right for a child to go before their parents.

Spent a few hours Saturday with Son. He has a house full . His Step Daughter is getting a divorce and had moved in with them for a while . She had 2 small boys . Luckily she found a place not to far from them and will be moving Wednesday and they will be able to help her on the weekends. So far she only has the boys every other week so they will have some free time .

Well time to get moving here at the house .
Have a good day .

Hi All,
30 minute walk outside for me! :D :sunshine:
It is harder to get out and walk with all the ice. They are doing their best to put down dirt and salt so we will just have to wait. Tried walking with DH on saturday but that was too icy. We were out for 30 minutes though. We did walk a bit on Sunday then ended up on the road to get home. Traffic was not busy so no problem. youngest got me out in the back yard sliding for a bit. The hill of snow that I was going to turn into a snow fort is currently our "hill". The crust on the snow is thick enough to walk on so sliding off a little hill is perfect. It gets us across the yard.
That is it for me for now.

Hi, Sisters,

Sounds like you had a fun weekend, Chris; glad you all stayed safe despite the ice. :)

I'm sorry about your son's step-daughter's divorce, Bama. So sad, and scary, about your SIL's DD. Thanks on the headaches. I do think a lot of them come from stress--when I meditate regularly they are slower to come, but I hardly meditated at all in Jan. Why is it so darn to stick with good habits when bad ones are so hard to break?

Congrats to your son, YAH--so cool he got a gold medal! Enjoy the dog-sitting!

Cute puppy, Sue--wish Mon. would actually be cancelled once in awhile so I could go back to bed instead of to work.

Hey, Ms Bekah, come back and show your face once in a while! :funny:

I've been avoiding the news, too--the TVs are always on at the Y, but I ignore them as much as possible. Even the political articles in the Times, I haven't been reading the past week or so. It just gets overwhelming with all the controversy, and every source has a bias so you never know what's really true. I am choosing to hope for the best for the next few weeks. I'm sure I'll eventually start reading again, but I needed a break.

Sweet dreams, everyone~

Hi All,
I have been laying low this week. I found foot was hurting on tuesday night so I am off walking for a bit. I think due to the ice being uneven tendons have to work harder which makes them worse. I may move back to the treadmill. It is a nice even surface for the winter. :D I had bought a bunch of fruit on friday so I have been enjoying fruit salads all week. It is healthier than doughnuts for sure.

Ha ha I wanted to cancel monday this week too. Good to see you Mo. I hear you on the avoiding the news.

Have a great day all!

Thanks for asking about me Mo. :D I'm working on some career goals. I also am working on self publishing two children's books for mom.

i have to format them too so hopefully that goes okay. fingers crossed on that. I'm a little nervous about it. I've been going to live music too where they have open mics. kind of fun. I will admit news has kind of drained me some too. I want to be informed and i think it's important but it can also be quite depressing.

Hope everybody is doing well. :)

Good Morning Sisters and Happy Friday ,

Again nothing new here .

I am with you on the news Mo, I have stopped reading and listening . Tired of all of it . What will be will be . I even had two friends on a forum on facebook delete me because of views since mine were different than theirs. . No love was loss for sure.

Out to dinner tonight to celebrate Ohio friend(as I use to call her) birthday . Nice place called the Rib House . nice and quiet not like the sports bars that we sometimes go to. So should be fun.

Weather is cold again but so far no snow which is a big plus.

Keeping up with workouts but no weight is coming off. No one to blame but myself . We are in charge of our own destiny .

Not taking time to comment on everyone this morning. I need to do some things for the Birthday dinner tonight and run to the Pharmacy to pick up an RX .

Have a great weekend and Chris do be careful on the ice.

Happy Friday all!! :D
Well I weighed myself today. :( Maybe I shouldn't have. I already knew where I was. I am about 15 to 20 pounds too heavy. This is own fault (I see we agree Bama). Well it is time to slowly work on those better habits. January 1st is not a magical number. So I have had a good chat with myself and I am ready to start making better choices. I did well with setting challenges each month for myself a couple of years ago, so I am going to revisit that. Not sure if I should make weekly challenges first to get myself going or not. I will have to get back to you on that. Cleaning up eating has to be a priority too. That is a hard one for me. I also need to carve out time each day for exercise. Plan to start this weekend and I will keep you posted. I am hoping you will keep me on toes and doing the right stuff. :Hahabonk:

So sorry about the strife with the news Bama. It is sad that we can't accept each others opinion for what it is. Enjoy your night out.

You are a busy and talented gal Becky! :) I love music of many different types. I am one of those people who can't stay still if there is music playing.

I hope you are doing well and staying active!!

Hi Becky,
Yes I am taking lessons every saturday from 10-12. I try and practice most evenings for an hour. I am no savant that is for sure! I keep telling them that I am a slow learner.
Great job with the workout today. :thumb:

I'm slow learner too. the pedal doesn't work well on piano it's 40 years old and never been tuned. :) teacher will comment sometimes that i seem to not press the pedal right and that is why. ha ha Then i sometimes play too fast and she will go, are you in a hurry to go somewhere. haha we get along well though. :funny:

Afternoon ladies,

Busy morning and now off to lunch so will try and catch up later today or over the weekend. I have read but just haven't had a chance to post.

Well here's report for January and what February holds in store....

January Report

January went very well and got body ready for other types of workouts with taking December off. I am still hoping to get some weight on to fill out and get filled out and toned up. So theme for 2016 will carry over to 2017! Hoping it works out better for me.

Also found some more new recipes we want to try so we shall see how that works out also.

Start date for February will be February 6th For MWF mornings weeks 1 & 2 will do a sculpting workout from Prevention using a resistance band (reverse lunge, wood chop, ski jump, kneeling push up, one-leg row, speed curl, kickback, crunch press, leg lift and bicycle; For the evening, an oldie but a goodie Stand and Deliver core workout on MWF and will do jog in place/walking/dancing for some cardio on Tuesday and Thursday. For weeks 3 & 4 (which will carry into the first 3 days of March) MWF will do another fav from WHM Flat-Ab Pilates (Mermaid with ball, footwork on ball, swan on ball, mermaid with a twist, back arm rowing, rollover, roll back and up and coordination with ball; MWF evening Self's sexy arm shape-up; and T-Th again will do jog in place/walking/dancing for some cardio.

Food goals: Food goals have not changed but remain the same...continue to take vitamin D, and keep up the increase in the fruits and veggies in diet, and try some different type of veggies, which we have been doing well with. Also continue to try out some different recipes, which had we are bound and determined this year to do better with. I will also continue with the getting in chocolate several times a week. PB is no longer an eating option for me. As for desserts we have made a switch and am keeping portion controls as I need to. Our soups mixed with egg noodles are working out great giving up lots of veggies and the sauce is already included; in addition to getting 2 dinners out of a can. Plus tummy likes it too LOL We will continue to have them over other types of noodles, like little farfalle and ditalini pasta too.

In addition we have a number of ideas for different bases to go over pasta, making casseroles, etc. Plus making calzones, and pastry filled with vegetables and other filling to add to our diet for even more variety. We did a test one and it worked out great.

Trying to continue a variety of foods in our diet. Doing very well getting fish into diet having it on most Friday's and have also been getting it in during the week also. In addition adding diced peppers, potatoes, corn, spinach and other veggies to go with the fish has worked out well too. Still have had to be careful on portions as stomach still rebels on occasion, hence no weight gain in 2016. So will try again for 2017 and slowly increase portion sizes to maybe put some weight on. Wish me luck.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Sue

Happy Saturday All! :D
I did walk to work yesterday and home again as well. It is still morning here and I have had a healthy breakfast and two large glasses of water. I did 45 minutes on the treadmill with some great tunes beside me (ABBA, The day the Music Died, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun). Now it is time to pull out the bagpipes and practice before lessons. :thumb:

Looks like you had a great first month Sue and a fine plan for Feb. I am gaining pounds just reading about your pasta and sauces. :Hahabonk: If I could hand you extra pounds I would.

It is great that you get along so well with your piano teacher Becky. When I was playing I would change the tempo for effect too. We have an old piano here too. DH loves when I play it.

Have a good day all. TTFN!

Afternoon ladies,

YAH I see you are getting the "winter weather" treatment and glad it was nice for the ski event. Congrats again to your son for his win in his age group. Sounds like a nice award too. Glad you got to see him too. I see Dave was alone with the kids. Have fun dog sitting and give the big S a kiss and hug from me. Oh no on hubby's radiator. Yeah unfortunately so with older vehicles. However, I'd rather have one of them that is easier to work on than the ones today. You have to take them to mechanics who charge an arm and a leg to do so. You can't even change an "air filter" in the new cars today and Joey (one of our neighbors across the way....said he had to pay $200 for them to change it. Chuck and I were incredulous. Joey came over when we were changing ours in our Cougar and said "wow that would be so much easier".

Yeah us too when we lived in the "snow cities" rather have the "white stuff" than the "rain stuff".

Bama, sorry you don't get to dog sit. Oh I loved ice skating Bama, as I have said but like yourself also did a lot of roller skating from a very young age also. We skated in Queens but L.I. had a rink and when we moved we'd go there for roller skating. Had plenty of ponds, etc on Long Island to ice skate on and Lake Ronkonkoma was the big spot lots of people went too. Just had to be careful you didn't go out into the middle of it as you'd be under water.

Again so sorry about your SIL and BIL daughter's passing. Oh I agree Bama a child should not go before her parents.

Sorry to hear about your son's step daughter.

I see a nice walk for you on Tuesday, Chris. Yeah not a fan of the ice either. I see you and hubby got out and walked some too. Yikes on all the ice...glad the road was clearer for you and hubby to walk in. I see you have "hills" too. We did the same growing up....piled it up high and had "king of the hill games".

Sorry on the headaches Molasses. I get them too when I get very stressed as I bite down hard and get mouth aches and that triggers the headaches too.

Yeah many a Monday I felt the way the doggy does.

Same here Molasses, we watch our local stuff and stories on line I just avoid the "other stuff" too aggravating and just gets liver in an uproar.

Chris sorry to hear about your foot and sure hope it feels better soon. Yeah treadmill might be a better option till the weather gets better. MMM yummy fruit...and fruit salads....a fav of mine too.

I haven't had a doughnut in years now.

I see you wanted to cancel Monday too....one of those weeks for all of us...

Bekah I see you are working on career goals and self publishing. Wishing you the best.

I can't think of the program off hand for book formatting. I will ask Chuck when he's done with his video and drop you an email.

I see you have been busy in a number of things, Bekah...

Bama, both Chuck and I are just as fed up and very sorry about the FB friends....however as you know I feel that everyone is entitled to their opinion and it should be respected. JMHO LOL

I see out for a b-day night and enjoy the fare...

Bama, sorry on the workouts and weight. Been there done that.

Chris, sorry on the weight gain. I feel for you as those last 15 to 20 pounds took me quite some time to lose...I hit plateau's and hate those.

I see you had a self chit chat and I have every confidence you will persevere and lose the weight.

Chris and Bekah...I send kudos out to both of you on the practicing.

Chris I see you got to walk to work Friday and back home too. I see you had a nice yummy breakfast and a nice time on the treadmill. I also see you played some of favs....we also had a nice music morning with Billy Idol's cassette.....ROCK THE CRADLE OF LOVE....AND MORE....and next up was Heart's Brigade cassette with Wild Child, All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You and all the other great songs she did on the cassette. Both of us were saying we can remember the videos that went with both Billy Idol and Heart's songs....

So in addition to getting our cassettes done to put into MP3 format we got to listen to some great music too. Chuck laughingly said to me "do you know the words to every freaking song" I said yeah the ones I liked a lot LOL

He forgets when I bought records (45s and albums) I would listen and write down the words for each song and put the slip(s) of paper in the 45 or album. LOL

Well on that fun note.....I am of to medicate, breathe and rest for a short bit.

Hope you had a nice Saturday and get to have some "me time" on Sunday.

Good Morning sisters and Happy Monday ,

Nothing special went on here over the week end . Just enjoyed being at home. Weather isn't to bad no snow so that was nice. A very strange winter for sure .

Watch some of the super bowl game , did watch the half time show . Didn't think to much of it nor of the commercials. Nothing that I ever remember . Lady Gada was nothing in book . Course I think not much of her anyway .

Sue , I did read two of Fern Michaels books as I didn't have anything to do or didn't have anything I wanted to do over the weekend . I borrowed them from the digital Library and read them on computer . First one was Fancy Dancer and yesterday was Desperate measures. both were good light hearted books.

Today nothing special planned other then I need to go to the jewelers and pick up ring . I had to have a new head put on it . Maybe stop in the Good Will and see what books they have.

Hope all had a lovely weekend and will catch up with you all later .
