Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
I don't really know how to drive on ice although i have heard that before about what you said but i probably wouldn't remember if i was on ice. I just don't drive when it's bad out or go slow. Going slow is sometimes hard with people and there big trucks who will cruise no matter what the weather!
your car sounds really cool! I've never had a v8 engine. nowadays do they still make them in cars? maybe trucks would have v8 engines. It's amazing what cars brand new go for nowadays. a brand new suburban which maybe has a v8 engine will go for like is it 60,000?? maybe more.
i'm going to work out today. i will post later today after i do. i haven't for a week or so. I weighed myself today and i haven't gained or loss. still the same. which is good because i haven't been watching what i'm eating. med has been bothering me. i just get an uncomfortable feeling when i take it for an hour or two. i try to take it before bed but that's hard because i have to eat 350 calories with it. i've missed it the last 2 days just because i wasn't hungry or just didn't want to feel that way. a lot of times i have no idea what to eat with it. eggs sometimes don't sound appealing or i'm not sure how much the calories are i'm eating so i really struggle with taking it. Besides that though i'm glad i'm on it.
have a nice day ladies.
EDIT: I watched calories today. I decided if i workout to have a certain amount of calories and if i don't workout to eat a certain amount and that's what i did.

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Afternoon sisters,
Just finished comics and off to meds breathing etc....had a great day and got all stuff done...plus we got to listen to Aerosmith's To the Nines, Bob Seger cassette with fav...."Old Time Rock n' Roll and then the B-52's.......'TIN ROOF RUSTED'
Bekah don't feel bad, most people forget. However, when you live in a area where winters starts in October and goes through April, like Western NY does you remember. Our last place we lived there you had to drive over a bridge and it was always icy. Our winter car however was a 4000 lb Lincoln Continental with a very nice big V-8 400 plus engine.
I grew up in the era of V-8's Becky and as to you question, yes they still make V-8's the Vette for me, Dodge Viper etc. There has been a resurgence in cars with "more power". However, you can't work on the majority of the cars today. Our neighbors years back Joey and his wife Heather had a Bronco type vehicle, it wasn't a Bronco but one of those type of cars. He had to have his "air filter" changed and it cost him $300. I never realized (since we had an old 70s Cougar at the time when we got here) that you can't reach the air filters anymore. It's buried under all the other engine parts.....yikes....NOT for me....thank you very much.
Yeah I don't know how people afford cars today.
Holding steady is a good thing, Bekah. I'd talk to your doctor about the meds.
Well off I go....
Have a good night,
Sue

i don't really forget i just have read or been told that's what you are suppose to do but i don't know i doubt i will remember if the time comes.
Yeah i believe that on fixing cars nowadays. brother always scares me about owning a home because he says there are so many things that are expensive to and do in a home unless you learn how to do it they will charge you a lot. I don't see it a lot with mom's house but his house is a newer home. I know he had something with the furnace once they were going to charge him a lot for and he figured it out himself.
i am a little luckier because i go to a mechanic that works full time and does side work at his house in the evenings and weekends so he charges a lot less at his house. It's a pain to drive too but boy has he saved me a lot of money. I told him once, i hope i don't see you for a long time. He goes to me, "you'll be back."
and he's right i will! He's really helpful though because i don't have any guy around to ask about car things.
i'm just going to count calories this week and see how i do and again if i exercise i will increase it by 200 calories and if i don't i won't.
I'm thinking of doing a meetup group to practice piano and spanish and meet others.
Have a nice me day tomorrow Sue.

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Hi all! Hoping you all are having a nice evening and enjoying your weekend and DO enjoy your ME day tomorrow! Well we got snow now but only 6-8 inches so far but its only -2 degrees right now
It got to high of 15 today:( I don't enjoy it being that cold outside but I don't have no where to go so I guess its ok and I don't have the heat up high in here either but I'm warm:) Up north and then east of Marq. got a couple feet of snow and in for more! We missed this one. Work xmas party tonight so son is at it but he only won $25 and hopefully a good dinner:) I miss it but knew I wouldn't want to be there this year. Maybe I will go sometimes as a guest. They give money for prizes instead of buying gifts cause
hard to get things Everyone would like. It was sunny today but no warm up from that.
Bama, I copy pic's on FB and then paste them on emails so if you did that for Sue, she might be able to put it on or I could try it? Nice you have the room for it and the fireplace too:) I see them at work and they make it seem warmer anyway. I just wear thin jackets now even as if I go inside anywhere, then I'm too hot right away:) Only if I'm outside for a long time I might wear something thicker. I wore knee knockers always to work, winter or summer;) Glad you got to see your kids and gkids and Happy:)
Becka, yes, MN., well certain parts get a lot colder and more snow then we do:) nephew lives there so DB and SIl go there a lot and we know quite a few people around there, depending on where your at. I wouldn't mind getting a smaller but 2 wheel truck for all the months without snow so I can bring some stuff away from here:) van has been sitting a lot lately also:( Front wheel drive but it did get me to work always. I'm lucky Dh fixes almost everything around here that goes wrong. But he's slow at things I want him to do otherwise and rather be in garage doing things or visiting with company he gets there:)
Mo, hope you are doing ok and probably busy with YMCA and Xmas stuff too? I think I might get a few more xmas cards out this year as I hardly ever do anymore. I did shovel whenever I could for some exercise although not too much to shovel yet. I think I will try to keep up with it on deck instead of waiting until a storm is All over this year.
Sue, loved the grocery report and you did great! Loved the comics and all too very much! I guess its good to get some rain there right? Bad about the cement work there though:( I'm sure you have a nice xmas decorations all up. I should look and see if I have a strand for the archway as I'm getting pretty slow at it. Glad you got some sleep nights and I hope the itchies go away soon also.
Oh Bama, I do have Lots of books here!:) I like the mystery's and scary ones a lot too. Not too tame or no all romance stuff either although theres always some in the mysteries also between the detective or whoever is the lead in the story! I have read some of the crime club? sisterhood books. I'm ok with one here and there and do not get to read them in line though.
Chris, hoping you are getting out for walks etc. Not sure where you live or if you get snow at all? But be careful on the ice everyone as sometimes even rain turns to ice for a while. BIG accidents downstate on interstate roads as I think they don't slow down enough or are doing something besides watching where their going. sis is happy to be out of all that traffic even though she's getting more snow then she's used to:) Its been 50+ yrs. since she lived up north. I lived in Dearborn, Belleville and Taylor while we were down state. So glad we moved long time ago also.
Have a good night's sleep all and take care!

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
i just read a story about john Glenn and his wife annie. they were married 74 years. she had a severe stuttering problem when she was young. Her sister always use to finish her sentences. But john who was a childhood friend never would. He would just wait patiently for her too complete it. I think that is the sweetest thing. she had an 85% disability on talking until her 50's. People treated her badly. He cried when she went to intensive therapy and improved in her speaking in her 50's. He's a democrat too but that's a side note.
I don't know about back then but i don't think there are a lot of men like John Glenn anymore.

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Probably not, Very few men are like that now. I have a friend who when ever her husband is telling us something butts in and finish it for him. He just very politely lets her.
cold here today . We ran to the store but spent the rest of the day in. Cooking and Wrapping presents. Tomorrow heading to Kohl's because I got a 30% off coupon and 10.00$ plus a 5.00 . The 5 may be expired not sure. I need two more gifts and then I will be finished.
Have a nice evening all.

i wonder if he was always loyal to her. he was married 74 years but he was good friends with the Kennedys who were quite wild. i guess he was with Robert Kennedy when he was assisinated. He really loved his wife though.
lyndon johnson came to his house once when he was VP and wanted to interview his wife but she didn't want him to come in the house because she stuttered and didn't want to be on tv. So john didn't invite them in. It caused quite the commotion i guess.

Hi All, I guess I have been missing again. eating has slipped back into old bad habits. I did get out for walks 3 times last week. I can only move forward from here.
Nice furniture Bama. Looks cozy.
Now that is some snow!!!
Is that where YAH lives? We have snow but not that much yet. It is, in fact, snowing now. I left work early to get on and off the roads before everyone else. I was lucky to be able to do so.
I know someone at work with a stutter. I never butt in. I think if it was me I would find it rude. Interesting story Becky, thanks for sharing it.
I hope you are all doing well.TTFN!

here's the article on John and Annie. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/mor ... 580b735f8d
To be honest it made cry reading it. haha
Just because she had to deal with slurs and negativity and deal with a disability in a time when the astronauts were really famous and public. John who was outgoing and athletic and probably could have chosen anyone chose her even though she really couldn't even converse a lot and sometimes people would think she was slow or something like that too. i just think it's a nice story.

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Hi, all,
Years ago I saw the movie, The Right Stuff, and kinda had a crush on John Glenn afterward, in large part because of the story of Annie and LBJ. And no, it didn't hurt that he was played by Harris either, but mostly it was just that he came across as bone-deep decent and loyal.
Yay on the walks, Chris! This is a tough time of year to stick to eating well. I've been on a bit of a sugar bender the last few days--all those book club leftovers.
Nice furniture, Bama! Hope you found your gifts at Kohl's.
Yay on your son winning $25, YAH! I have had a busy few weeks--besides working, I finally finished painting the family room (except for the chimney brick, which I am planning to do one of these days), and then I hosted book club on Friday night, so that was several days of what DH calls, "cookin' and cleanin'."
There are definitely costs associated with home ownership, Bekah, but if you buy a house, you just have to budget for repairs and maintenance. I don't know what your medication is, but I hope it's okay to skip doses if that's what you've been doing. I know with some medications, it's not a good idea. Can you maybe drink a Shakeology or something with it at bedtime? I think whole milk is about 150 cal per cup,, so if you add a scoop of protein and a banana, that should easily hit the 350 needed. Might help you sleep well, too. Just a thought anyway!
Looks like you've been busy and productive, Sue!
I start the sensory panel thing tomorrow afternoon, so that should be interesting. I will be going 3x/week for 60-90 min. and they teach us how to rate lotions, etc. on a 1-10 scale on a bunch of different attributes like stickiness or slipperiness. It pays $22/hour, so we'll see how it goes. It's just this week, and then picks up again the 2nd week in Jan. and goes through March, I think.
It has gotten chilly here, but it is not what I call "MN cold." (Or "UP cold" for that matter.) We are looking at a high of 32 by Thurs., but up where dad is, the high for Thurs. is 0, so I can't complain!
Wishing everyone sweet dreams~
