Lats

Post by Twitch »

What does everyone recommend for the best lats? That seems to be the area I have the most trouble with. I am doing V-grip pulldowns, BB rows, not seeing any improvement in Lats.

Any ideas?

Thanks

pull ups, chin ups, inveerted rows, db rows and above all deadlifts...you may also be doing too much bi work affecting your ability to do more back work...when you do bi's do a reverse curl / hammer curl type movement over regular curls

Bent over Barbell Rows could be an option too.

i like bb bent rowes but they do stress the lumbar quite a bit so that can limit what you can lift overall even though your lats might be able to lift more by themselves

A good combination is chin ups, wide grip pull downs and pull overs (bent arm or straight) supersetted. I find chin ups are by far the best workout for lats and ya inverted rows too.

So I did inverted rows last night, actually a fun exercise. I guess you can probably have someone add weights to your stomach if it becomes too easy.

Also, chin ups with falms facing you correct?

For lats not necessarily. If you want to target lats primarily do a wide grip palms facing out. Facing in puts more stress on bi's and forearms so takes away from lats someone.

the point is to get your elbows back behind you...yes certain versions will increase bi and forarm use but if you get those elbows back and chest out you'll get lats and mid back
