Re: Most Efficient Use of Time
Just curious, are you the full time carer of your child, or are you working and then caring for your child while your wife is at school?? The reason I'm asking is because what I'm about to tell you is what I always tell friend who says she's got no time to exercise either (she's a full time carer): ...

Re: Best way to re-start after week off...
It really depends on what you were sick from. I've taken a week off every now and then due to work stress, headaches, injuries etc and was able to just jump straight back in it. But when I had to take a fortnight off due to the flu, I couldn't just pick it all back up again. I had to drop weights ba...

Re: Sam's fitness journal
Now, I looked over your training routine. You are off to a great start! and I can definitely tell you are working hard! There are a few suggestions I would like to give if you did not mind. I would like to make sure it is ok with you before I post them. That's fine Danny, I need some input because ...

Re: Sam's fitness journal
In regards to the comment about middle aged women, offensive seriously. Sorry, this isn't meant to be offensive, but most women that age participating are only doing so for their children or for the social side and not much else. I don't enjoy going up against them because I'm trying to be serious ...

Re: Sam's fitness journal
Here are two photos. The first I took on January 28th, at that time, I was just about to start getting back into training after having a couple of months off. The second was taken today on the 13th of February. The time between the two was just over two weeks. http://imagecdn.bodybuilding.com/img/us...

Re: 194 heart rate good?
I've had almost the same. I've recently bought myself a polar heart rate monitor and it had me at 184 bpm for jogging at 8.5 km/hr for 20 minutes on the treadmill. I think it's normal for me though. I'm not fit, but I'm not unfit either. I had a fitness test years ago and the PT was shocked at heart...

Sam's fitness journal
Well I've decided to suck it up and write one of these, so it might (EDIT: has) end up a little long. I'm always embarrassed about letting people know that I'm working out because I used to get a lot of negative reactions from the family for doing it (e.g. dad: "haha, you? going for a run? like...

Re: Things you've learned through experience
Stuff the women who look at you weirdly for using weights and not spend hours on cardio machines And stuff the men who get annoyed at you using the free weights You are there for you, no one else I used to go to the gym when I was attending university and I loved free weights. The stick thin girls ...

Have you ever cut down your 'life' to concentrate on sport?
I'm wanting to know if anyone has ever taken a chance to achieve their sporting dreams? I'm taking a huge risk in 2011 and I'm wondering if anyone has done it, did you succeed or not, and any advice? I originally intended to reduce working hours in 2010 to concentrate on karate. I believed it was y...

Re: Confusion over stretching
I'm a bit split between two views on this one. This information is what I received while doing a Physical Education course and recent Fitness certificate (cert III) The mays are because there is no conclusive evidence for or against in the research I was provided. 1. Stretch after your warm up and a...

Re: abdominal excercises! need some good ones!
Ones that I love are V-Sits on a bench so that I can lay out flat without 'resting' Also (what I call) leg and hip raises. Lying flat on your back, slowly lift up your straight legs to vertical, then continue on and lift up your hips off the floor and pushing them towards the ceiling while making su...

Thoughts on new weight training program
I'm stepping up weight training to 4 days a week alternating upper and lower body rather than 3 days per week of a full body workout. I'm not sure if what I've got planned is too much. I have a tendency to try and push past limits because I really enjoy the feeling of satisfaction when completing a ...
